Life with a 13 month old can be crazy, then add teething on top of that it. Life can be a rough you guys!
Blakely started teething at 6 months old but she didn’t cut her first tooth until she was 11 months WTF. Luckily I was educated early on about Baltic Amber Teething Necklace and since then that necklace rarely comes off of her neck.
What the heck is a Baltic Amber Teething Necklace, you ask? Well I’m here to share with you what it is and our experience. So lets get into it!!
What is Baltic Amber?
Baltic Amber is known for it’s healing properties and has been used for thousands of years. Baltic Amber contains a higher percentage (8%) of succinite, know to be a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory properties. When your child is teething their gums are swollen and inflamed as the tooth tries to cut through the skin, the succinite properties are said to help reduce the inflammation during that process. When it is worn against the skin the warmth helps release the (succinite) from the Amber and then the body absorbs the healing element.
As a nurse the whole Amber Beads will provide my child comfort was a little weird for me. But as you can see Blakely is 13 months old and still wearing her beads!! I have truly noticed a difference when she doesn’t wear them, she was much more fussy and all of the sudden she was drooling everywhere. I would say the MAIN thing these Amber beads helped was to reduce the drooling that happens with teething.
SO WHY DO BABYS DROOL well according my pediatrician and many others babies drool because the saliva helps cool their inflamed gums. So I have to believe that Blakely’s gums and mouth were not as inflamed due to the necklace. Don’t get me wrong I did my best not to give her Ibuprofen or Tylenol but when I felt like it was appropriate she did medication. I’ve heard from other people how awful the whole teething process can be, but for us truthful it has been a breeze. I give a lot of credit to the necklace, like A LOT of credit.
Things to Remember
Your baby shouldn’t chew on these beads. I personally put them on Blakely in the morning and she wore her necklace (against the skin) tucked under her clothes all day.
It is said that to maintain healing, you must put the Amber around their wrist or ankle for sleep time. But Blakely never wore it to sleep overnight (yes, she did wear it during naps). I just didn’t feel it was necessary to have it on her at night.
If you are interested in purchasing a Baltic Amber Necklace please read all the DO’s and DONT’s and speak to your pediatrician for any other advice. I am not a doctor, this is just what I experienced as a new mom so I wanted to share it all with you.
AND make sure you buy your necklace from a reputable suppliers that is selling genuine Baltic Amber Teething Necklace For Babies
** UPDATE Blakely is almost 15 months old and for the first time she started touching and playing with the necklace. So I decided that instead of taking it off I would put a loop in necklace (so it would sit on the back of her neck) to make it just a little bit shorter. This makes it so she can’t get the beads in her mouth. There is always the option of taking if off of her but I with how much it has helped in her the past, I want to keep it on her! PLEASE beware if you child is playing with the necklace or can get the beads in their mouth, that is a NO NO!
Hope this helps you guys, let me know if you used the Amber Teething Necklace with your kiddo! If you have any questions leave me a question in the comments!
